Post #15 - Links Section + Mama's High School

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I posted some links for websites about Mama. They're at the top right-hand side of this page.
There was actually a detailed mention of Mama on the STMC website, but they change it up every few months, so it's no longer there. Regardless, they still have a brief comment about him in their archive section. Mama went to high school there from grades 8 to 11, which is really cool because Harinder, Roger, and I all went there too. I actually remember the day when Harinder went to write entrance exams for that school. He had to do that because it's a private school. I remember him walking back to our school (Roger and I attended elementary school just down the street!) and he had a popsicle. I don't even know why I remember that! I mean I can usually never remember where I park my car, but yet I remember that! Harinder's right - I remember the smallest (and sometimes the dumbest) things from my childhood...haha.
Anyways, it was a plus that Mama attended STMC (aka STM) because when Harinder applied to go there, they took that into consideration with his application. It's weird because I was just thinking back to these annual Remembrance Day assemblies we used to have there. During them, they always mentioned the names of old students who passed away and we took a moment to reflect. It was a small school, so when we lost someone, it affected all of us in some way or another because those people were members of our close community. During Roger's first year at STM in grade 8, there was even a student who attended the school for less than a week before he died tragically. I started STM in grade 9, and every year I was there, they mentioned his name during that annual assembly. This all got me thinking that just because Mama didn't grad from STM (he transferred to NWSS for grade 12), doesn't mean they won't mention his name this year at the assembly. Obviously they most likely will. I'm thinking about attending. Doc Smith (a teacher at our school who has a doctorate, hence the reason everyone calls him that) taught all of us - Mama, Harinder, Roger, and me. I still remember asking him one year if he knew Dave Sidhu and he said something along the lines of: "How could I forget? He was a star basketball player here!" All of Mama's yearbooks (w/ pictures of him on the basketball team each year) are actually right behind me on the bookshelf as I type this. Harinder kept them. Bhabi, Dad, and I looked at them a few days before the funeral...
Anyways, back to the links I posted:
I printed and laminated all these websites for Mami-Ji in August as she requested, so that the boys could look at them in the future. I actually didn't know about the basketball forum website until Harinder showed it to me. And Mami-Ji was the one who told me about the newspaper article in the Voice newspaper. Check them out if you already haven't.
Love Karen
